DECREPIT RITUALS hallmarks an era of a revitalised DEFAMER. After the success of their debut 2009 album CHASM, subsequent touring over Australia and New Zealand, and the departure of guitarist, Mitchell Rogers; DEFAMER return at full length with eight rituals of decrepitude.

DECREPIT RITUALS offers a refined and distilled dose of death metal. Making the executive decision to remain with one guitarist, Sam Alcock has twisted contemporary death metal with the older schooled sound of the yesteryear. Guitar riffs invert at a bile-evoking pace into fever pitched insanity. Exposure to DECREPIT RITUALS leaves one unsettled, broiled, and disparaged.

DECREPIT RITUALS recorded across latter 2011; DEFAMER has again invoked Ean Redman for recording and mixing duties, along with guitarist Sam Alcock. increasing his involvement in the process. DEFAMER ensured meticulous standards were in place to capture the abominating sonic orgies and secure with conviction. Mastering was finalised by Jason “PC” Fuller at Goatsounds, Melbourne to mark the final ritual in the process.

After completing a hiatus from extensive touring, DEFAMER will be taking to the road for an initial 11 day Australian/Japanese tour in support of ‘DECREPIT RITUALS’.

ABOUT DEFAMER
DEFAMER’s inception began late 2006 with sole intention of creating uncompromising death metal. After locally circulating a self titled demo in 2007 and following up with the “In Winter It Began” demo in 2008, DEFAMER shot to national infamy playing interstate festivals, supporting the likes of VADER, CARCASS, and CANNIBAL CORPSE. January 2009 saw DEFAMER unleash the debut full length CHASM with reviews hailing it as a chaotic and relentless onslaught. Recorded live in a desolate area in Brisbane’s far north, the band wanted to capture the intense energy that met the pinnacles of their live reputation. Upon release the band toured Australia incessantly and made the leap over the Tasman Sea to New Zealand with grinders HUMAN in support of The Great Rift / Anti 7″ split. After the departure of guitarist Mitchell Rogers, the remaining members of DEFAMER became focused on finalising material for a new record. Live shows boded well as a four piece and the writing took on a more condensed death metal sound to emerge with their sophomore album, DECREPIT RITUALS and an eleven date Japanese and Australian tour over February and March 2012.

DEFAMER is Sam Alcock – Guitar, James Geekie – Drums, Kris Sadler – Bass Guitar, Tim Smith – Vocals.

OBSIDIAN RECORDS – Brisbane, Australia present VERMIN TO THE EARTH the sophomore album from virulent black metal duo THRALL.

VERMIN documents the metamorphosis of THRALL from a sanguinary studio project to a formidable live entity that now includes Leigh Ritson (ex Disseminate) on bass and Ramez Bathish (ex Whitehorse / ABC Weapons) on second guitar. THRALL built their live reputation on punishing volume and an atmosphere of menace. THRALL recently performed at Melbourne’s High Voltage Festival 2011 at the Corner Hotel, Richmond featuring US thrash legends Forbidden.

VERMIN delivers a unique blend of old-school black metal and hypnotic void-worship. In seven songs it encompasses bile-soaked mid-paced anthems (“Vermin to the Earth / Oblivion”), sanguinary lurching dirges (“Plague of Man”), and hell-blasting suicidal elegies (“Vita Vacuus Voluntas”). The new album is more: cohesive, hefty, solemn and yet more spacious than THRALLʼs debut, Away from the Haunts of Men. Vermin is a requiem to a cursed species.

VERMIN was recorded across two hemispheres and continents. Drums were recorded in April 2010 by Ippei Suda (known for his work with Corrupted) at LM Studio, Osaka, Japan. Guitars, bass and vocals were recorded by Trent Griggs June – July 2010 at The Gate, Margate, Tasmania. The album was mixed by Trent Griggs August 2010 – June 2011 at The Gate, Margate, Tasmania. The album was mastered by Jack the Bear (Tony Mantz) on 1st July 2011 at Deluxe Mastering, Melbourne, Victoria.

PROLONGING THE PAIN enforces that late 80s classic death metal is still as strong as it was in the yesteryear. Lacerating guitars from both Edgar and Perry re-enforced by tormenting vocals and bass from Reiff and devastating drums from Dwyer. PROLONGING THE PAIN is already a classic death metal release with brutality and groove the current era of death metal sorely lacks.

LACERATION MANTRA will launch their album this coming March.

Since 2002, CLAGG have cast blackened clouds of hateful sludge metal over Australia. Years of playing live around the country have seen CLAGG share the stage with Electric Wizard (UK), Dismember (Sweden), Acid King (USA), Coffins (Japan) and Monarch (France). CLAGG‘s third album LORD OF THE DEEP follows Let the Galaxy Burn (2005) and Where Dead Gods Sleep (2007).

OBSIDIAN RECORDS is proud to get behind one of our nation’s top acts as we re-release CLAGG – LORD OF THE DEEP after the initial pressing has since sold out. This addition comes with an added bonus in a cover of “Big Loader” by English sludge icon, Iron Monkey.

LORD OF THE DEEP is best described as a musical landslide, a thick tumultuous mass of earth steadily descending over the listener and engulfing them in a rocky sea of huge guitars, thundering drums and a truly monstrous voice. This is Australian Doom Metal at its finest.

From the ashes of Black Mass festival Armageddon Festival rises like the phoenix to unite Australia’s black metal underground and as a testament to the rights of artists to freely express their full artistic views without censorship or opposition.
Australia’s black metal & extreme metal forces join once more in the ultimate union of musical black metal art over two huge nights in Sydney. They make no excuses for their ideologies nor the creation of extreme noise but only stand obstinate in the face of those who would challenge their musical freedom.

Friday night will begin the blackening of souls at The Bald Faced Stag Hotel. Pestilential Shadows burning with ire shall reunite for an exclusive live performance on the dawn of their fourth album soon to be unleashed! Another truly rare performance ensuing shall be that of Arkheth who have risen to new heights of Neo Classical, Symphonic Black Metal composition on their recent opus, ‘IX & I’. A true gem of the AUBM underground, Arkheth states that this shall be their last show for all eternity.
Naetu from Perth join the libations with their dark misanthropy alongside Sydney’s Bleakwood, who featuring members of Ironwood will be making their live debut which is not to be missed!
Friday Night celebrations will be closed by an exclusive & secret guest performance which shall only be revealed to those eyes who bear witness to what shall come.

Once your soul and liver has been suitably blackened by Friday night revelries prepare for the second night of artistic & nihilistic endeavor at The Factory Theatre for a huge night of sonic destruction.
This will be Nazxul’s only live Australian performance for 2011 before their disappearance into the shadows to record their new opus & follow up to 2009’s, ‘Iconoclast’ album.
They will be joined by Astriaal returning to Sydney after a seven year hiatus with their new album, ‘Anatomy of the Infinite’ in their only Sydney performance for 2011. Drowning The Light, one of Australia’s most enigmatic & intriguing Black Metal artists will also be performing their only Australian show for 2011.
Destruktor from Melbourne defiantly return to Sydney after a long absence to strike hard with their crushing displays of aural speed & brutality! The whirlwind of their destruction will not strike again soon as this is their only Sydney show for 2011.
The devastatingly heavy Wardaemonic will once again be bridging the great divide of distance and dragging you into their black void along side Sydney’s Erebus Enthroned to stand strong in the face of adversity.
Never before has there been such a gathering of Australian Black Metal, united they stand because Australian extreme music WILL NOT BE SILENCED by the voices of the few! We stand defiant and rally in the true spirit of metal brother & sisterhood against those who would dictate against our freedoms & love of extreme metal. Join us to support some of Australia’s finest metal acts as they converge upon Sydney to share their full artistic vision with the privileged few….
