OBSIDIAN RECORDS is pleased to announce that we have formed an agreement with GREEN DISTRIBUTION that will see our releases in stores across Australia and available via electronic distribution. This is a monumental step for us, one we have truely believed in for quite sometime. That Australian Extreme Music should be in Australian stores. And it is our honour to be represented by GREEN DISTRIBUTION. There is still a lot of work to be had, and more information will come to light in the coming months.
THE DEAD have completed worx on their debut album, self-titled 'THE DEAD'. A nine track monster sounding debut, that is as relentless as it is catchy, without compromising any brutality. This will be released by the end of December for all you drooling THE DEAD fans. After this has been unleashed on Australia, THE DEAD will proceed to visit Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide in the first half of 2008.
PORTAL - OUTRE' has been unveiled on CD by Profound Lore. Reviews have been coming in, and are saying what was expected. OUTRE' is a masterpiece. We will have OUTRE' on wax very shortly for your consumption. In other PORTAL news a live line up has been assembled - MMVIII awaits. ASTRIAAL - 'RENASCENT MISANTHROPY' voted Triple J's #1 Metal album 2003 is being re-pressed, re-packaged and re-released by OBSIDIAN RECORDS. The RESURGENCE EDITION MMVII will entail a CD-ROM Component featuring a video of ARBORESCENCE performed live and a photo gallery of ASTRIAAL throughout the years.
ROOKWOOD have completed all work on their debut album 'YOU WORSHIP SHIT'. Eight tracks ranging from extreme black metal to extreme black and roll. Social, political and religious views are spread throughout the album. Making it's punch quite lethal. It's quite clear ROOKWOOD want you to know one thing. YOU ARE WHAT YOU WORSHIP.
We have 3 upcoming shows confirmed and a few more in the works. The first is this November 24th our great friends PESTILENTIAL SHADOWS and ORACLE OF THE VOID will take the stage at CLUB PHOENIX. Both bands will be playing new material for us from their upcoming albums, 'ILL MEMORIAM, ILL OMEN' and 'FURTHER STEPS TO A PERFECT WORLD', respectively. They are supported by the truly epic FORN VALDYRHEIM, the contorted DEAD LETTER OPENER and the relentless SCREAMING DAWN.
December 21st will see THE DEAD launching their album 'THE DEAD' with our friends Nefaira, Western Decay, Defamer and Violent Green in a mixed line up just before the end of the year. Come along, have fun and celebrate the good year.
In closing our news 'blog' [.b - I guess] the year ends as as we originally started. THE DEAD - ARMOURED ASSASSIN - 7" was our first release, the years last release will be THE DEAD - THE DEAD - CD. It has come full circle, one complete iteration. We took all the right steps to ensure that all this years work was completed. Next years cycle we will begin with ORACLE OF THE VOID - FURTHER STEPS TO A PERFECT WORLD. Which is exactly what we will be doing, marching onwards.

We are currently preparing for the 'NEATH - THE SPIDERS SLEEP CD to be pressed, due to be released AUGUST 1ST. In combination with 'NEATH we are preparing artwork and bonus content for ASTRIAAL - RENASCENT MISANTHROPY CD re-release.
The artwork and vinyl master for PORTAL - OUTRE` 12" have also been completed, they will be sent off to the pressing plant very shortly in time for a September/October release in conjunction with the PROFOUND LORE CD digipack. The Australian jewel case version of PORTAL - OUTRE CD is set for release early next year.
In other news ORACLE OF THE VOID have completed most writings for the debut album. ROOKWOOD have completed tracking their album and is due for a final mix and master soon. THE DEAD DEMO II is now sold out, and THE DEAD will begin working on their debut album in the coming months after their next few shows are completed.

Our Internet front has been seldom, yet our work behind the scenes has been voluptuous. We will make all recent happenings public knowledge with time. However our most recent announcement is that MISERY - ON DEMON WINGS and LIMB FROM LIMB - RIP HIM FROM HIS FUCKING THRONE are currently at the pressing plant. Both of these are due out via OBSIDIAN RECORDS JUNE 13TH. And shortly after they will be available in stores Australia wide.

The test pressings for ORACLE OF THE VOID - IN DARKNESS IS FOUND THE GREATER ENLIGHTENMENT 10" MLP have arrived and are approved. Release to follow in August.
In other news the new MISERY album has been mastered. We are just waiting on final art to come through. Samples of all our releases are available in the DOWNLOAD section.

THE DEAD - ARMOURED ASSASSIN 7" is now released. 200 copies on red and black splattered vinyl. THE DEAD plan to appear in Melbourne around August/September.
ORACLE OF THE VOID - IN DARKNESS IS FOUND THE GREATER ENLIGHTENMENT 10" will be sent to the pressing plant this month. In timely fashion to be released upon their tour support of South Australian horde DARKLORD at the start of August.
Some initial mixes of the new MISERY album entitled ON DEMON WINGS have been completed and it is awaiting a final mix.
